Hemorrhoid Symptoms Too Obvious To Ignore
Posted by Karen Berk
Hemorrhoids are a rather common problem. You might know you have them even without an official diagnosis from a doctor.
The most common symptom of hemorrhoids is blood. You may find blood on your toilet paper or even drops of blood in the toilet bowl. Many times your stool will have spots of blood visible on them. If it’s a hard stool, it can scrape the hemorrhoid as it passes causing the bleeding.
Anal itching is another common symptom. Besides being annoying and relentless, it’s embarrassing having to scratch it in public. The itching and irritation can be just as bad or worse if the hemorrhoid is external.
You may also experience an uncomfortable feeling like you still have to go the to bathroom after you’ve just emptied your bowels. The bulging hemorrhoid at the end of the anal canal makes you feel like you have something to expel all the time. The more swollen the hemorrhoid the greater the feeling like you have to go.
If you have an external hemorrhoid, you will actually be able to feel it when you reach back there. External hemorrhoids tend to be bloody and itchy like internal ones but they are also likely to cause more irritation and be more painful. Severe pain is a sign that medical treatment and possibly surgery are needed immediately.
Fortunately, most people notice their hemorrhoids before they get too severe. In the early stages there are ways to treat them that do not involve seeing a doctor. If the problem persists, it could be a sign you don’t have hemorrhoids. At that point, seeing your doctor is a must.
